What is JusticeNet SA

JusticeNet is a not for profit association formed with the aim of facilitating access to justice for not for profit organisations and financially disadvantaged individuals in South Australia.

JusticeNet administers a referral scheme that matches eligible individuals and charitable organisations in need of legal assistance with member law firms and barristers who are willing to act on a pro bono basis (for free).

JusticeNet collaborates with existing legal service providers (such as Community Legal Centres and the Legal Services Commission, and the Law Society’s Litigation Assistance fund). Applicants are referred to existing legal service providers where appropriate. Where gaps in existing legal service delivery would leave applicants without legal representation, JusticeNet will facilitate pro bono representation by referring eligible applicants to member firms and barristers.

To qualify for assistance from JusticeNet, applicants must satisfy our eligibility criteria, including a means and merits test.

By harnessing the resources of our member law firms and barristers, JusticeNet operates as a ‘clearinghouse’ for pro bono work in South Australia. JusticeNet aims to ensure that, as far as possible, all meritorious pro bono needs in South Australia are met and all applications for such assistance are dealt with efficiently and in a co-ordinated and timely manner.

Funding

In 2009 JusticeNet received a grant from the The Law Foundation of South Australia that enabled us to commence operations.
